'House of Wax' Cast: Where Are They Now? (1)

8

One year after Saw hit theaters in 2004, House of Wax — loosely based on the 1953 horror film of the same name — gave Us more creepy torture scenes and grotesque scares than we knew what to do with. But unlike Saw, all of House of Wax’s most heart-pounding moments were aimed at an A-list roster of the hottest TV talent in the 2000s.

2005’s House of Wax starred Chad Michael Murray and Elisha Cuthbert as twins who get stranded near an abandoned wax museum during a camping trip with friends portrayed by Jared Padalecki, Paris Hilton, Robert Ri’Chard and Jon Abrahams. The teen characters quickly start to get stalked and killed off — and it all has something to do with the unsettling Trudy’s House of Wax.

Before the film was even released, fans had a feeling that Hilton’s character was going to get killed off. (House of Wax was the socialite’s first role in a major motion picture.)

“I thought it was the coolest death scene,” Hilton told Hollywood.com at the time, reflecting on how her character, Paige, meets her demise. “It’s really awesome. I cheered! It was dope.”

Ever since the move carved its way into theaters in 2005, many of its stars have gone on to achieve even more fame and fandom. Keep scrolling to see where the cast of House of Wax is today:

Elisha Cuthbert (Carly)

While Cuthbert was already a mini scream queen before her role in House of Wax due to her time on Are You Afraid of the Dark? and 24, the 2005 film cemented it. As her character, Carly, tried to survive the brutal attacks that killed her boyfriend (Padalecki) and friends, her relationship with twin brother Nick (Murray) also served as a parallel to the bond between their killers (who were — spoiler alert — previously conjoined twins).

After 24 ended in 2010, Cuthbert continued to find success on television, starring on Happy Endings from 2011 to 2020 and The Ranch from 2016 to 2020. She married hockey star Dion Phaneuf in 2013 and together the couple share two kids.

Chad Michael Murray (Nick)

Murray had already worked with Padalecki on Gilmore Girls before reuniting on the big screen for House of Wax in 2005. Murray was also already two years into his starring role as Lucas Scott on One Tree Hill at the time, which is where he met — and briefly married — costar Sophia Bush. The pair tied the knot in 2005 only to split several months later. Their divorce was finalized in 2006.

After leaving One Tree Hill in 2009, Murray continued his work in TV, going on to earn many holiday TV movie credits and a nine-episode arc on Riverdale. In 2021, he returned to the horror genre — only this time as the villain, starring as the titular serial killer in Ted Bundy: American Boogeyman. Murray is set to star on The CW's Sullivan's Crossing in fall 2023.

After meeting Sarah Roemer in 2014 on the set of Crackle’s Chosen, the pair wed one year later and went on to welcome two children. In July 2023, the pair announced they are expecting Baby No. 3.

Jared Padalecki (Wade)

Padalecki’s House of Wax character has one of the most memorable — if not gruesome — death scenes in the horror film. In fact, 2005 was a huge year for the actor, who wrapped up his time as Dean Forrester on Gilmore Girls and began his most famous role as Sam Winchester on Supernatural, which ran until 2020.

Padalecki, who reprised his role as Dean on 2016’s Gilmore Girls miniseries, A Year in the Life, went on to star in Walker, the CW reboot of Walker: Texas Ranger. The actor married wife Genevieve Padalecki in 2010 and the couple share three children.

Paris Hilton (Paige)

Hilton was already a bonafide star when she was cast in House of Wax in 2005, thanks to her A-list socialite lifestyle and hit reality show The Simple Life.

After releasing her self-titled debut album the following year — which spawned the hit “Stars Are Blind” — Hilton continued her pop culture reign with multiple reality shows, a bit part in 2010’s The Bling Ring, a DJ career and more.

Hilton married Carter Reum in 2021 and later welcomed their first child.

Robert Ri’Chard (Blake)

After the Cousin Skeeter actor played Hilton’s boyfriend in House of Wax, he saw success on the small screen, including Meet the Browns and arcs on The Vampire Diaries and Empire.

Ri’Chard is in a relationship with longtime girlfriend Meg Ellspermann.

Jon Abrahams (Dalton)

Abrahams portrayed Dalton in House of Wax, the friend who discovers that Padalecki’s Wade has essentially been sculpted into a wax figure. (He, too, ultimately meets his fate.)

The Meet the Parents actor went on to have roles in a number of other horror films. Abrahams, who is also memorable for his role as Cindy Campbell’s (Anna Faris) boyfriend in Scary Movie, keeps his dating life close to the vest.

Brian Van Holt (Bo and Vincent)

No one in House of Wax was as creepy as Van Holt, who played murderous twins Vincent and Bo in the 2005 film. He went on to have a successful career in TV, starring on Cougar Town from 2009 to 2015 opposite lead Courteney Cox.

The Black Hawk Down star has been married to Tracee Van Holt since 2020.

Damon Herriman (Lester)

Herriman — spoiler alert — portrayed Bo and Vincent’s brother in House of Wax, leading to a creepy twist ending. Herriman has acted steadily since, with TV roles in Breaking Bad, Lead, Vegas, Justified and more. The actor has also made his mark in other villainous roles in numerous hit films, including J. Edgar and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, the latter of which he portrayed Charles Manson — the late cult leader he also played on an episode of Mindhunter.

Like his House of Wax costar Abrahams, the Australian actor also keeps his personal life private.
